Great new iPad 3 Camera App - Pure Shot

Recently I learned of the release of a great new replacement app for the iPad camera. I already have several camera apps just like most Apple device owners. When I saw a new app getting a lot of praise I thought I would give it a try.

Pure Shot is a re-made 645 Pro Camera App minus the frills and filters. The user interface has been re-done making it more intuitive to the average user. What is does - it does well. I recently was able to grab a few test shots on a cold cloudy day using the night setting the App had. I did not have a blurry shot in the bunch and the light was pretty good for low light.

The App faired very well and I was well pleased. I am adding some pictures from that day that were edited in the Snapseed App. It is well worth giving it a try and adding it to your arsenal of quality apps. ...... Pure Shot Camera App.

Blending 2 photos together on iPad 3

Today I played with merging photos together using iPad apps. Actually, I was up last night playing till 3 AM because it was soooooo much fun. :). I went to SXC.hu and found 2 graphic illustrations that I thought might make some really nice artsy cards.

I loved the sentimentality of the above.
There is just something about this leafy image that looks like it could have potential for many uses so I took it as well.
My favorite goto app for using 2 images for merging is Blender. Whatever the size of the bottom layer will be your finished size. It is best to figure out which image is bigger if you need a large size and load it on the left. For this finished artsy piece I used the leave photo rotated so the black box was to the left as it appears above.
On the right side I loaded the boy and his cat image. Once loaded I clicked the arrange button until I was able to rotate the image until the boys head was by the black box and pinched the photo to stretch it to fit snugly above the bottom layer.

I played with the blend setting In the Blender App to find one I liked and saved my newly created image project. The words "Friends" was added with "Text on Photo" (iPad version). Easy Peasy and purdy.

I enjoyed playing so much that I took the finished photo into another IPad app "Wordfoto" and created a new fun version of the ecard ....

A side note whenever I want to compare sizing and check for poor resolution from app saves I pull my finished projects into Vintique. On the bottom of the first screen you pull your photo in the image size is displayed.

Reminder: sizing checks are important between apps because some apps save at very poor resolutions that are not good for printing. The app Big Photo is a help at increasing photo size on the iPad but only to increase the image some. So ...... be careful using new apps until you verify how well they save your finished project.

Flipboard App and Pocket App

These are 2 of my favorite go to everyday apps. They are where my daily fix of reading material comes from. It helps too that they both allow screens is photo viewing as well.

With the Pocket App I simply install a code to my bookmarks then when I see something of interest I return to that bookmark. Click to save for future reading later. Easy peasy!

Flipboard is like your own personal magazine created by you. You choose your content. You choose where the content sits on the page and even choose which page will have which content. Wonderfully practical and able to be changed as your interests change. I do not choose the list view but it is available. My first 2 pages from my flipboard are included below as an example. My main interests are photography and art. Any interest you may add to yours.

These 2 apps are really worth having and you will find yourself reading more since the material is based on your choices.

Been there, done that .....

But done a bit differently this time. I downloaded a stock photo from fontplay.com to process in a few new iPad apps. This time my artsy painting like outcome was achieved without a PC or Photoshop. I took the photo and cycled through the possible presets in Portrait HD app. The preset Portrait 1 was my final choice.

I saved the image back to the camera roll then opened it in the Photocopier App. So many I liked there. I chose Carpaccio after much playing. I again saved to camera roll.

The collage was created using The Picframe App set to 2400 x 2400.

I am very satisfied with the results and will use these apps again .... Maybe even often.

Say no to small phone app photos forever .....

I took this photo previously with my iPad 3. I actually think this was the second picture I took with my new iPad. Although I liked the photo was disappointed with the resolution size. Being printable is important to a finished photo or art project to me. I purchased the Big Photo app yesterday which upscales images fairly well. I tried it on. The photo above was used as my test sample and I was satisfied with the resulting upscales. The photo below is the above photo doubled. Not a bad result.

I then tried 3x and still think it is a usable result. I have not printed anything however. Printing is my goal so hopefully I will have a happy solution with my recent app purchase.

Say yes to these 2 IPhone Apps

I had a few minutes last night so I played with 2 new iPhone Apps and really enjoyed playing with them ... I ran the photo through Popsicolor first. That was where I spent the most time. There was so many cool choices as I tried to find the choice I liked best. After I decided I did some color & texture changing in DistressedFX.

These were really fun apps to play with and I highly recommend them. I also recently bought icolorama but haven't played with it yet. Maybe later.

What's still possible ....

... Taking indoor photos with my iPad.

I downloaded an app called "NightCap" to try to use my iPad for photos taken inside. It worked better than other camera apps that I tried.

Lite retouching done in PhotoForge2 and texture overlay masked in using the Blender App.

A window into a new phase ....

I discovered an iPad app journal from Happy Tapper that I would like to play with for awhile ..... Gratitude for iPad.

(Gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has—as opposed to, say, a consumer-oriented emphasis on what one wants or needs.)

It is pretty easy to use and is straight forward. I simply jot down my blessings of the day and add a few photos as a visual reminder of the day if I wish. Kinda fun for now and won't take too many minutes to update each day. There is the possibility of emailing your page or exporting as a .pdf. Worth a second look if you believe positive memories make positive attitudes.

Daring Myself

Today is day 1 of blogging about iPad/iPhone apps, photography and all things related. It should be an interesting adventure .... One that I look forward to undertaking. To start I plan to jot a few notes here a couple of times a week. To start I offer 2 random plays with photos and iPad apps.

Done using Graffiti Me iPad app

Done using a texture layer set to exclusion blend mode.

Canon's A-DEP mode

Well, I learned what the A-DEP mode is actually about today while watching a Rick Sammons video from his Canon EOS personal trainer series. The A-DEP mode uses all the focus points so everything in the frame is in focus. This results in the frame having the maximum depth of field.

I had the belief it focused the main subject only or something similiar. Boy was a ever wrong.

Ever have a photography enlightening moment like this before? Care to share?

Test blog upload with multiple photos using Blogpress iphone app

Today is an off and on rainy day so I downloaded some iphone apps to re-tag my flickr account photos.

And downloaded another app to attempt blogging without a computer. And I will add an attached photo to see how that goes. Cheers!

Iphone app - yes we can

Takes an ordinary picture and adds red/white/blue to simulate the Obama Hope poster. I grabbed an older model truck photo that i had taken and thought the result was pleasing. But not really usuable with the word hope or change at the bottom. There didn't seem to be an option for adding your own word.

I could save it or email it but could not upload it nor edit the end result in any way. A "few uses" fun app but not a useful usable app
